Hi Steve, Had foot surgery so I have been thinking about that...and the car.R U ready for this..."the fuel injection pump...DON'tYELL...Alfonso fixed the car and call came here to my office and picked me up.- so I could get the feel of driving the car and seeing the difference in the car. As we were driving he told me, "Oh, the car drives nicely, I drove it to BALTIMORE. Why I asked Baltimore, he said, I wanted to make sure it drove without stopping. Then I asked the cost.....quietly he said, $1600 he said he had to buy (2) two fuel pumps. (Does that car take 2 fuel pumps?) All the men tell me he scammed me. A few days after getting the car back, when I would start the motor, the car sounded like a truck. I would not figure what it was. I did not take it back to Alfonso. The maintenance man at the church told me he was going to take me to his mechanic - we went Saturday. I turned to car on for him to hear - and immediately he told me to turn it off and get out. They drove my car in and put it in the ramp to check it out. He came to the waiting room and told me to come with him. He showed me that I had a crack across my catalytic converter and I needed a new one. He called around and came in and told me that he found it and it would cost me $533 and when it came in he would call me.It seemed that every time I took the car in to Alfonso when I got it back a week or two later something else would happen.I liked him, I thought he was nice and he seemed to care, but I was beginning to think I was being taken for a long long ride.Did the car really need two fuel injection pumps? If not who do i complain too? And I think $533 seems like a good cost.

Hi there,
do you happen to have the vin of the can available?
do you know if this is a new, used, or aftermarket catalytic converter?
can you add any additional background on alfonso and the repairs he has made / not made?
I think the new mechanic called a company, because he got out his black binder and spoked with several different people. I think he called a discount company that sold converters. My vin # XXXXX XXXXX I will ask if it is new or used.
Alfonso runs Duramax Autobody in Kensington, MD I will have to get the work information that he did and let you know tomorrow.
Do you think her ripped me off?

there are actually two different pumps on this vehicle. whether or not both needed to be replaced is a different story. If he charged you for two of the same pump, this would be wrong, but replacing the main and presupply pumps at the same time is possible.
In terms of who to complain to, there isn't a central body or anything. You can try the better business bureau, post online reviews, etc, but honestly nothing is likely to come of it.
I hope that is helpful, please let me know if you have further questions, or if I can clarify anything for you.
Best wishes to you on your repair
