95 325i: Gears..leaks fluid level good I can compress the slave

My 95 325i clutch won't disengage, I can put car in any gear when engine is not running but none when it runs. Clutch replaced 3 months ago a few thousand miles. Gears work clutch comes off floor but is soft "no real pressure" Can't see any leaks fluid level good I can compress the slave by hand but very difficult. had my daughter push clutch pedal while I held slave compressed I can't hold it but the rod did not come out. Help

it worked when she pulled into the garage the next morning nothing. why the slave and not the master?

It could be both the master and slave.

But we're going diagnose which one is giving your problem.

The master cylinder is under the clutch pedal.

no no leaks apparent

Have you tried to bleed system? Is the clutch fluid full?

yes I have bled it yes the fluid level is full what i'm hoping for is how to determine master or slave failure I'm too damn old and stiff to change the master just for the sake of it

If it bled out, the slave cylinder must activate. I can tell you they can be difficult to bleed. I know what you mean by the old and stiff part, done it all my life and now have eight herniated discs. This is how I bleed em. Hook a hose to the slave blender, open bleeder, depress slave by hand then tighten blender and release slave. Repeat this four to five times. See if the clutch works. Let me know.
