Hello and welcome to JustAnswer BMW,My name is XXXXX XXXXX it will be my pleasure to assist you today.
usually this is caused by a failing alternator, but can also be caused by the belt coming off or slipping (check for this), or a failing battery.
The next step will be to check the belt and then have the battery and alternator both tested (free at most parts stores).
I hope that is helpful, please let me know if you have further questions, or if I can clarify anything for you.
Best wishes to you on your repair.

As long as the engine is not overheating then it is not likely the belt, it is probably the altarnator or battery that is the problem. Keep an eye on the temperature and have the battery/alternator tested as soon as possible.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
If I have answered your question, I would kindly ask that you please press the green "ACCEPT" button so that I receive credit for doing so.
