Customer Question

I have a BMW Z3 M roadster. I just change the thernostat, hoses, and radiator. I tried to flush the motor with a garden hose. Now how do I get all the clear water out of the block? What is the proper way to get the air out of the cooling system?

hi this is ed and i will help you with this. on the passengers side on the block between cylinder 4 & 5 there is a bolt with a 19mm head, this is the drain for the block. you don't however need to drain it, unless you want to. you want to run a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water. fill the radiator with a gallon of coolant, on the radiator expansion tank, right next to the radiator cap is a small plastic plug with a + on it. remove that and continue filling the radiator, until no bubbles come out of that bleeder. once you have no bubbles put the radiator cap on, then reinstall the bleeder screw. this should get all the air out of the system, and have you ready to go. thanks in advance, and if you need any other information, don't hesitate to ask. regards ed.

I tried that yesterday and it still seems to have air in the system.

very carefully remove the small hose from the vent on the radiator, and with the cap off, see if you get any air out of there. if you do fill the radiator until only water comes out, then replace the hose. then take the bleeder screw out continue filling, again until no bubbles come out. then replace cap and see how it does. thanks ed.
