Hello and welcome to JustAnswer BMW,

My name is XXXXX XXXXX it will be my pleasure to assist you today.

to confirm, the blower fan is what is still running? not the actual heat or AC itself? the control panel is not still on, is it? it is just the fan motor?

hello are you there?

Yes that is correct. The blower fan is running. The ignition is off and key is out. The engine is of course not running. The only way I can get the blower fan to stop is to pull Fuse #11, which is listed on the fuse box as one of the fuses for the air conditioner.

thanks for confirming

this is a VERY common problem. Your final stage resistor, which is a small resistor unit which controls fan speed, has failed. The final stage is a very, very high failure part and is notorious for failing and causing the fan to run when the car is off. This is VERY VERY VERY common and is definitely your issue.

You will need to have your final stage resistor replaced. For now, you can pull the fuse for the blower to save your battery, as you have done.

Unfortunately on this model the entire dash board needs to be removed to access the final stage which is located with the blower motor itself, which is a very big and time consuming job.

I hope that is helpful, please let me know if you have further questions, or if I can clarify anything for you.

It has been my pleasure to help today and I wish you the best of luck with your vehicle.
