A customer had his 2004 BMW 330i washed, when he got back in his car and drove away, he returned and said that we had damaged his transmission. A lite came on his dash that looks like a gear with an exclamation point. Is it possible to damage a transmission in a car wash, if so , HOW??

Hello,It is impossible to damage a transmission by washing the vehicle or the engine. All BMW connectors are sealed to prevent water intrusion and the transmission can only be filled at the plug on the transmission as there is no dipstick for the transmission. Due to no dipstick it would be impossible to get water in the transmission. The only thing that would be possible would be damage to the transmission control unit if the E-Box where the computer is located was not sealed. If you did not touch the E-box then there would be no negligence on your part at all. I hope this information is helpful please accept and I wish you the best. Thank you.
