Thats the Chassis number
Directly under that label will be 2 others,1 will be the basic and 1 will be the program number.
problem is with the progman,
It will ask for the same thing twice and you don't know which one will work.
When your connected and you've indicate the DME
And remember you need a steady available charging current over 13 volts
Sometimes with a jumper pack
enter the basic top number 1
enter the program number 2
if it fails do 2 (at the prompt again)
fails again 1 then 2
By six rounds of this you'll hit on the right combo,
If this is the problem
Did you try to realign the EWS module to see if this will start
And can you read fault memory of the module
not reading the dme is a problem.
Disconnect the dme let it bleed out
if you cant read it the ews wont either ,
Let me Know
Sounds like it took the program the first run,dsc and kombi will error because of the can fault, which is normal.then you clear faults
With progman you go to services and align ews
with the gt1 you'll find it in dme service functions align ews
follow the prompts
Dont repeatedly code the dme without checking to see if you need to ,
When the measure plan was carried out with a green check mark at the dme its in.
Don't forget to have a stable voltage supply ,It will fail to program without it.
And the DME only accepts programing 13 times after that its kaput
Please Don't Forget to Accept
Can the Dme be identified through the tester
and can faults be read out/
If not Disconnect the DME 10 minutes
reconnect attach the charger and try to progam again
Do you have a stable voltage supply over 13 volts while programing
The DME powers up the main relay By activating the ground wire to it .
When the DME get unresponsive You have to jump the main relay to provide the power
to activate the DME.
below is the location of the relay ,the wiring from the relay to the fuse carrier ,the uhr2
is the wake up/power on
Use a fused jumper at the main relay the 30 to 87
Alright now you have to power it up and program again
Keep me posted
You can attach when posting ,look for the paperclip
It uploaded to a server from just answer.
Try that part number again on the manual entry and remember you have to power up the main relay.
After it takes it go back to diagnosis and see if you can communicate with the DME.
Then see if you can communicate with ews in diagnosis
if this is at the dealer ask them to open
a PUMA case to reanimate the DME ,
From there they send this to ,most likely Woodcliff Lakes NJ
But This may be still a lost cause ,Whats you price on a new DME
try these guys at programa call first ,they seem to stop at 1999 for m3
These guys look new on the block
try programa first
let me know how it goes
Im not sure why your reply didn't prompt for a response on "my Questions " list
Remember with an SMG the Hood must be closed to select a gear
Since the DME is no programed
You Probably have to Do the learning in routine for the SmG control unit.
But check the faults in the SMG before doing this
It will prompt for the procedure
Bonus and positive Feedback is always welcome.
If the display is flashing then you may still have in the SMG
You need to read the fault out
If there are no faults ,Change the hood latches
Both hood latches
Which code reader did you use,the green screen would have prompted for a test plan
to follow.With the GT1 software.
Recently had to leave town for a funeral.
You should have a fault,If you still have no faults we;re back to my last recommendation
replace the hood latches
Well done ,what fault code was read to get the Diag
