This code is for a very small evaporative emissions leak.

The first thing to check for this code is a [possible loose gas cap. If the gas cap is ok you will need to pressure test the system.

Does this affect how the engine runs? I also got the P0301 code and this tells me cylinder 1 misfire. I just replaced the spark plug on the first cylinder from the front of the engine. Is this the location of cylinder 1? If not, what is the cylinder number sequence and orientation? Please advise.

No this code will not cause a drivability issue. Try swapping the ignition coil with another cylinder and see if the code p0301 changes cylinders, if it does then the coil you moved is bad. Yes that is the #1 cylinder.
