The transmission indicator light on my 2003 325ci convertible has gone on. I consulted the owners manual and it indicated this means that from a dead stop the transmission starts in third gear. Do you have any idea what the problem could be and how much it might cost to get repaired? Thanks!
Hello,
Thank You for choosing "Just Answer" for your questions concerning your BMW. Yes, I can help you.
The transmission is going into "limp" mode.
A shop with a BMW capable scanner must interrogate the fault memory of the transmission control module and retrieve any diagnostic trouble code(s) that may be stored in association with the "limp" mode. Based on the DTC(s) retrieved, further testing, diagnosis and repairs would proceed.
I hope that I have answered your questions and addressed your concerns. Should you have any further questions for me, please do not hesitate to ask. Positive feedback is always appreciated. If you accept my answer please click on the "ACCEPT" button.
