I've tried that but, the belt seems really tight and it seems like the belt won't stretch that much. Also it there is a bolt very near the top of the bottom idler pulley that it looks like the belt might rub against. Any suggestions on the best way to install the belt.

Are you loosening the tensioner? Again I will attach both as I don't know which one you have?

Replacing A/C Compressor Drive Belt

Note:
If the drive belt is to be subsequently reused:
Mark direction of travel and reinstall drive belt in same direction of travel.

If necessary, remove splash guard.

Model with hydraulic drive belt and tension jack:
Remove the dust cab. Push back belt tensioner at bolt connection of guide pulley and remove drive belt.

Model with mechanical drive belt and tension jack:
Push back belt tensioner at hexagon head and remove drive belt.

Caution: Drive belt must be replaced if fouled with hydraulic fluid.

Installation:
Check drive belt for coolant and oil residues, replace if necessary.
Install drive belt, make sure it is correctly positioned on belt pulleys.

Replacing Alternator Drive Belt

Note:
If the drive belt is to be subsequently reused:
Mark direction of travel and reinstall drive belt in same direction of travel.

Remove fan clutch with fan impeller.
If necessary, remove A/C compressor drive belt.

Remove cap from tensioning roller.

Relieve tension on belt drive.
Remove drive belt.

Caution: Drive belt must be replaced if fouled with hydraulic fluid.

Installation:
Check drive belt for coolant and oil residues, replace if necessary.

Installation:
Check that belt is correctly positioned on belt pulleys.

Version with auxiliary tensioning roller.

Installation:
Locking device of auxiliary tensioning roller must snap into groove on alternator.
