I put some new tires on my 2004 525I and now I am getting this ABS fault. I read somewhere that the tires had to be the exact size as tires that came off the car. Is there anyway to clear or reset this fault?

If you replaced all of the tires with the same size tire the computer should not really have a problem with that. If you replaced tires and have different tire heights, then you will have a problem! With the different height tires the ABS/traction control unit does not know if one wheel is slipping or not, because a smaller wheel is actually spinning faster than the bigger tire. The amount that the tire tires spin in relation to on another is how the ABS knows how to compensate as it should. If you found my information helpful please click accept! This car came with 19 in wheels, the rear tires are much wider than the front and there is a noticable height difference. When I purchased new tires I purchased the exact same size that was on the front. On the rear I went from a 285/35/19 to a 275/40/19 and the height seems to be fairly close.
Using the tire specifications you gave me I calculated that the new tire has a circumference that is almost 13 cm longer. this would mean that the tire actually spins slower than it is supposed to. Now the traction computer will of coarse compensate for tire wear, but the new size tire is actually 2 cm taller than it should be. I think that this is the reason why your abs light is coming on, but the only way to know for sure is to hook up the car to a computer and check the faults.
