I have a Browning Power pistol. It has adjustable sights

Customer Question

I have a Browning Hi-Power pistol. It has adjustable sights (apparently factory installed),black rubber grips, and the "Browning Arms Company...." markings, with "Made in Belgium" underneath, on the left side of the slide. However, the serial number is ***** a vertical line on the front of the grip frame, instead of the usual place. The prefix is 77C, followed by a 5 digit number. So, my question is - what is this thing? Is it a Mk. I Browning? Is it from a special run for somebody? I've had Hi-Powers before, but not with a serial number like this one has. Anything you can tell me will be greatly appreciated.
