Customer Question

My hen suddenly started limping a few days ago
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Have you looked to see if there is a wound on their foot?
Customer: Yes, I couldn't find a wound. Seems like an injury
JA: The Veterinarian will know what to do. What is the bird's name and age?
Customer: Blackberry, 8 months old
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Blackberry?
Customer: I tried checking for a stuck egg, and didn't feel one. She laid a few days ago when I first noticed the problem with her walking, but hasn't laid now in three days

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner, but can you tell me:

Has Blackberry had any known slips, falls, injuries, or jumps off a perch?

Is she dragging or favoring one leg?

Any swellings, sores, tender regions, boney crunching or instability when you feel the leg?

Any pain or stiffness when you flex/extend her joints?

Can she grip your finger with her toes? Any changes to the bottom of her feet?

Any belly distension or straining?
