Hello. Thanks for the question.I'd also be worried. It sounds like he may have pneumonia. That is a common cause of lethargy, decreased appetite and labored breathing in mice and rats.The treatment is typically with oral antibiotics from a vet. It is life threatening, but we can have a decent prognosis with rapid treatment. If not eating, I'd get some oxbow critical care and syringe feed him.I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
