Customer Question

We have 29 very healthy bard rock hens yesterday my wife noticed one was standing and walking like a penguin and today she is still the same. Is there something we can do for her?

Perhaps. Have you experienced egg binding in your flock? Please review this article and let me know if she sounds like an egg-bound hen to you: http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/egg-binding-symptoms-treatment-and-prevention

she does sound like a egg-bound hen and no we have never experienced this before. We will try to see if we can help her out. Thank you. Roland

Do your best, Roland. Many egg bound birds will require the services of an avian vet (please see here: www.aav.org) but I understand that you do need to consider the financial practicality of having a vet attend to one hen when you have quite a flock. I can't set a follow-up in this venue so please return to our conversation with an update - even after rating - at your convenience.
