My Peacock tried to breed with my pet chicken. I think he broke

Customer Question

My Peacock tried to breed with my pet chicken. I think he broke her leg she can not
stand. I went to the feed store before I knew about her leg and bought Terra-
Vet. It is a antibiotic. She feels like she has a fever.

She is not making any sounds, usually she talks up a storm. She had real loose bowels, and now nothing.
She was hurt last Saturday.

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. We don't many avian-oriented vets on the site. If Katherine can't stand and isn't passing droppings, I have to consider that the peacock may have broken Katherine's back and paralyzed her. Such trauma can't be assessed from here. You'll need an avian-oriented vet (please see here: www.aav.org) to thoroughly examine Katherine paying particular attention Katherine's pain sensation in her hind legs. If Katherine is numb in those areas, her prognosis for recovery is grave. Unless you've found an open wound, I don't see the need for an antibiotic. Can you turn Katherine upside down on your lap and take a good look at her legs and abdomen, please? Can she feel your pinching a foot? Do you see any abnormal swelling(s) on her legs?

Hi Sandra,

I'm just following up on our conversation about Katherine Hepburn. How is everything going?
