Customer Question

My Moluccan Cockatoo was frightened and flew from her swing into the window. There was blood on the floor. At first I thought it was a blood feather, but further examination showed a cut about 1 1/4 inches long where the wing is attached to the body

Hello, I'm Dr. Bob.
I'm sorry to read of April's injury.
You can make a very tough and durable bandage using super glue 5 minute gel and baking soda.
Apply the baking soda over the affected area then add a drop of two of the super glue gel. Use a facial tissue to press the glue into the baking soda for thirty seconds, until the glue sets. This produces an anti-infectant and protective covering that will simply fall off as the wound heals.
If anything isn't clear about the procedure, please let me know.
Best regards,
Dr. Bob

It is the 4th of July, and I don't have the 5 minute super glue on hand...will any super glue work? I wasn't sure how long it would take to get an answer, I waited and wasn't sure if you received my message, so I cleaned it out with hydrogen pyroxide, applied liquied collodial silver, dried it and applied nexcare liquid bandage

Hi again, sorry for the delay, I had to attend to an emergency call.
Yes, any super glue will work, the gel tends to be thicker and stays where you put it a bit better but the regular glue is fine. The super glue should work well applied over t he liquid bandage. It adds a protective layer over the wound that is much tougher than the liquid bandage.
If you should have further questions, please let me know.
