I have an african grey parrot.I found My parrot this morning and it looked like she was asleep with her head in her seed bowl, but doesnt seem to have eaten as much as normally it does! It is now sitting on the floor of her cage and has been eating grapes, but it tries to bite me when I go to stroke him! Its eyes are open, not talking though, still drinking water. But keeps putting her head down!
Optional Information: Type of Animal: African Grey ParrotGender: unsureAge: 4 Already Tried: Ive tried to offer some fruit which it has taken and eaten but will not get up off the cage floor!
This is an emergency. You need to get the bird to an avian vet RIGHT NOW or an emergency clinic that accepts birds. There may be any number of things going on, but he it in a life-threatening situation so don't waste time and get him in now. Put him in a box, carrier, or aquarium with soft towel pn the bottom. No perch and food and water where he can reach right by his head. Put the whole thing on a heating pad set on medium. Continue to offer grapes. Try warm rice, pasta, pancakes etc. You can try to offer pedialyte or Gatorade, he may take it diluted 1/2 with water. Good luck.
