MY COCKATIAL IS IN DISTRESS. I BELIEVE SHE IS EGG BOUND. CAN I HELP HER? sHE IS SWOLLEN OUT HER REAR AND HAS BLOOD. NOT EATING OR DRINKING TWO DAYS.

Hello. I'm sorry your bird isn't well. She could be egg bound or could have a prolapse. The best thing you can do for her is take her to an avian veterinarian for evaluation.

If she is egg bound then your veterinarian may be able to collapse the egg and remove it. Sometimes egg bound birds require surgical removal. The sooner you have her evaluated the better. Typically home remedies are ineffective.

If this is a prolaspe then your veterinarian can surgically repair the prolapse and attempt to find the inciting cause.

Hello,

I took my bird to the vet,she died. i knew she had prolapse. thank you i was looking for something i could do for her.

Oh I'm so sorry. The same thing happened to my 20-year-old cockatiel. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, there is nothing that can be done. Take care.
