Question

What is the religious significance of E.A.B.M.G.R.A.?

Sent to General Experts July 24, 2007 8:55 p.m.

As a child being raised a Jehovah's Witness I was told to memorize, "Eat Apples Boy, Mom Gives Reward Afterwards". A google search of this memory tool is fruitless.
As I understand it, EABMGRA represents the superpowers Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, Anglo-America.
What exactly is the significance of this group of regions?
Internet research brings up obvious relevance of many of them, but I remember being taught that there were these seven specifically.

Hello and welcome to Just Answer.

Can you tell me if you are still a member of this religion ? How old were you, when they taught you this ?

Danny

Hello, and welcome to Just Answer!

In Revelations 17:10 the Apostle John says: "And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

The word "kings" is up for interpretation. It is debated to mean "kings", "popes", "kingdoms" and "forms of government," to name a few.

Some religions believe that Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome and Angle-America are the seven kings (kingdoms) which will make up Satan's final kingdom.

Here is one webpage which goes into an explanation of how the "seven kings" might be interpreted.

The reason I asked these questions is because, I didn't believe they still preached this anymore.

My mother and our family was raised for years in the Jehovah Witness for around ten years. I have not heard this expression since I was around ten years old. And it is only taught in the church among the children to help them remember easier.

In Revelations 17:10 it explains the whole significance of these countries.

I believe the significance of these countries is they are the places that will support the Antichrist when the time comes for Satan to begin to take over the world. As a child I was taught this.

I hope this answer's all your questions. If you have other questions or need more information, just ask for Danny541.

I've already accepted another answer but wanted to pay you too, because while he had a very thorough answer, what you brought up is even more interesting.
I'd set out for this answer initially because my boyfriend had said this arrangement of Superpowers sounded suspiciously Christian.
I think I was taught that somewhere around 10-15 years ago (I'm 23 now). I wasn't aware they've since stopped preaching it. (I've been out of touch with the religion since my Mother disowned me at 13 because she was certain I'd die in Armageddon.)
*unexpected chuckle*
Thanks Danny, Keep up the good work.
