Knowledge Of The Bible Needed - "Selfish Impatience"
Sent to General Experts June 12 08:06 PM

My situation is such ... a friend of mine whose parents are "church going" but are really horrendous people (those kinds of hypocrites). They helped her and her two sons (their grandchildren - 4 and 3 yrs old) out during her divorce from her abusive husband (they paid for her laywer fees) with the understanding they would get the money back once she and her sons got on her feet. Since that time she's worked hard, found a place to live, but as a single mother of two is still struggling hard. Every penny counts right now. Regardless of her progress, her parents want their money returned to them "as soon as possible because we are anxious to have our kitchen remodled." (its only been 3 months since she moved out on her own) despite the fact that she's barely managing to put food in her childrens mouths. I'm interested in finding a biblical quote or reference about this kind of selfish impatience that can accompany the "blood from a stone" payments to her parents she will be making.

Hello and welcome to Just Answer.

There are several quotes that refer to money, but the best one to give them is Matt. 18:24-35.

It speaks of a servant who owed his master money, and he was getting ready to send him to the people who would torture him to get the money, and he cried and begged until his master took pity on him and let him go, debt free,

But as he went out, he ran up on a person who owed him money and took him and sent him to the place he would have been sent and when the master heard what he had done, he brought him back, to account for what he had done, and all he had done to the one that owed him was now done to him for his unforgiving spirit. My thoughts on this she is their child, it takes time to get back on your feet, they need to leave her alone until she can get it together. These are her suppose to be loving parents. A true believer of Christ would never her in this position, but would tell her when you can, pay do so, but until then, don't worry about it.

You can also check Psalm 37:21 the last half of that quote is But the righteous shows mercy and gives. Who can be more caring and giving than a parent ?

Also if they talk to their pastor , he would tell them much more on how wrong they are.
