I live with christian mennonites and they dont believe it's biblical to have home owners insurance,medical insurance and 2 nights ago a new home of theirs burnt down. They owned the home. It was a new home (2 yrs old). It's confusing for me to see this. I am feeling as if my faith in God is not up to their standard when I know it's as good. They are so separate from everyone in town. I fell on hard times and asked for their help thinking they were better christians then anyone else. Their focus was to convert me and I was more interested in the life of christ our savior and his place in my life than in transforming to a mennonite. I don't want to change them but I would like to have an open form to talk with them without being judged as an unbeliever because I choose to not wear a head veil that looks like a catholic nun would wear. The bible says to cover your head while praying (women) but it's the mennonites that designed this white oval veil not the bible.What is your answer?

i appriciate your answer. I didn't know about "the law vs. grace"rule.
i have considered those questions and have worn the veil and i didn't like the reaction by others. Others stated that i was "holy" better than they and a reminder of their sin and my children got alot of messages from their friends and their parents when they couldn't get the courage to ask me themselves.
on top of going thru a hard time I couldn't handle it all at once.
i'd like to ask other mennonites questions so thanks for the connections.
Iam now attending a calvary chapel church and feel alot more comfortable.
i still live w/them amd work w/them and i wonder if i should move to a shelter so i wont be "using " them being that i don't agree.
I have seen alot of hypocritical behavior that has really broken my heart because i thought they were near perfect, but the truth is they are just people who fall short of God's glory.
They carry thenselves as if they are superior and everything is micro managed to the point where it is an "obey or else" situation.
I guess i havew a second question...
