<p>Hi, My sister had the gastric bypass surgery in 1992, 2 years after mine. Since her surgery she has lost 75 lbs. plus, however she has gained several pounds back. </p><p> Can you please tell me if a revision is safe to have?</p><p> Thank you in advance for your help.</p>

Hi,In general, revisions of gastric bypasses for weight gain are highly risky procedures, with no real guarantee of success. If the reason for the weight gain is because of increased portion size, I would recommend finding a bariatric surgeon that will put a Lap Band/REalize Band over the gastric bypass. It's called band-over-bypass, and it is much lower risk and has a better chance at success than revision of the bypass.Good luck!Dr. Dan
