I claimed bankruptcy about 3 years ago. I have had a mortgage

Customer Question

I claimed bankruptcy about 3 years ago. I have had a mortgage on my house for the past ten years. I was able to keep the house because there was no equity. But since I did this, my mortgage does not come up on my credit report. Is there a reason for this?

WALLSTREETESQ :

If you did not reaffirm the mortgage it was discharged in the bankruptcy,

WALLSTREETESQ :

which means if you fail to pay it they cannot sue you as it was discharged.

WALLSTREETESQ :

At this point if you have made payments and they have not reported it to the credit bureaus, you can ask them to do this, and they may have you complete a reaffirmation agreement which you can file in Court.

WALLSTREETESQ :

Or they may just start reporting it.

My house was not included in the bankruptcy, and I never made a late payment in ten years.

Then you need to contact the lender for they have no reason not to report your payments, and they would have to under the law. I would look at your bankruptcy petition again to make sure you did not list the mortgage.
