This is a bankruptcy question. Filed Chapter 7, made payments

Customer Question

This is a bankruptcy question. Filed Chapter 7, made payments to trustee, finished payments, scheduled this month for the discharge hearing. Problem: one creditor has a lien on our home. What if anything can be done?

Thank you for your question.

A chapter 7 bankruptcy would not avoid a lien on a property. The chapter 7 bankruptcy will eliminate/discharge your personal liability on that debt. This means that the lienor can foreclose if the debt is not paid.
