Is a judgment (awarded in divorce) against a bankruptcy debtor

Resolved Question:

Is a judgment (awarded in divorce) against a bankruptcy debtor presumed dischargeable if the judgment is for non-debtor spouse’s attorney fees. If not, under what circumstances would a judgment in divorce be dischargeable?

Hello,

The judgment would not be dischargeable.

Section 523 of the Bankruptcy Code excepts from discharge both property settlements and support obligations.

You can read the Code here:

I hope that the information which I provided was helpful to you.
