On a purchase with a 10 yr warranty cust has serial number

Customer Question

On a purchase with a 10 yr warranty cust has serial number and aprox purchase date Dec 09/Jan2010 but unfortunately no proof of purchase and the supplier no longer manufacturers the product therefore doesn't want to know about it nor does the retail store - where do I stand - do I have any rights please?
JA: Because consumer protection law varies from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: Supplier is in Queensland and purchase was made in NSW
JA: Has anything been filed or reported?
Customer: Only initial enquiries by myself
JA: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: Is there a charge for this service?
JA: You just pay a $5 deposit now and the rest only when you get a reply from the Lawyer. All of this is 100% satisfaction guaranteed, so you can get a refund if you're not happy for any reason.
Customer: is payment by card?

Hello
The warranty will be valid due to the serial number. Warranty does not follow the purchaser, it follows the item purchased.

Purchase was made in NSW, so NSW law applies.

Initially, contact fair trading and see if they can make a judgment call.

If that fails, go to NCAT:

I wish to help you in this situation.
