Will i be put to jail if I transfer money from my parents bank account to my bank account?
Good Morning,

My name is XXXXX XXXXX I am a NSW Solicitor. Thank you for your question, and will do my best to assist you with your question.

If you have taken the money without your parents consent then you can be charged with obtaining benefit by deception which does hold a jail term.

If this is a 1st offence the courts are very reluctant to issue a jail term but would probably place you on good behaviour bond and request that you return the money.

Have you already been charged?

Good morning to you too.
Thank you for the quick answer.
I haven't been charged with anything yet, this will be my first if my parents find out.
Will it go to my CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK?
Thank you
Good Morning,

Yes if you get convicted it will go on your criminal record and remain vague.

Being charged does not appear on your criminal record but it appears on the police record.

I would suggest that you put the money back and your parents may not report this to the police.

It is a serious offence, and it is taken to be more serious because your parents would have trusted you and you have breached the trust.

It is not the same as stealing from a stranger.

is there anything else I can assist you with?
