Hi, I have a question related to possible defamation/ slander I am a small business owner, I operate an education facility canteen Recently I have been forwarded 3 complaints from my contract coordinater. The complaints are all ananymous, and undated. most of the comments are general and are very emotive. my concern is commments about health risk, bad food and sickness . These complaints have the potential to put us out of business.

my concern is commments about health risk, bad food and sickness . These complaints have the potential to put us out of business. Well, unfortunately, even if the comments/complaints are defamatory, because they are anonymous and you cannot identify who made them or if a more than one person made them, you can't sue. You need to match specific people to the complaints.I'm sorry, and I wish I had better news for you.I realize that this answer may not be entirely to your liking, and I regret being the bearer of information that you really don’t want to hear. But it would be unfair to you and unprofessional of me if I were to provide you with anything less than truthful and honest information. As such, if you are satisfied with my effort in answering your question, then I'll ask that you please provide positive feedback.
The identities of the people who lodged complaints, may be available, details may have been edited from the copies I received. If Identities can be proven , do I have a case/
That is going to depend on what specifically they said, and more importantly, on how many people saw the complaints. If few people saw the complaints, then your reputation will not have suffered much damage, and you won't be able to sue for very much.
