There are two units on the block. I own one and the other is rented out; both are in excellent condition. The other unit's drainage and sewage system goes along the side of the unit then turns right and then goes under the slab of my unit. All my facilities join this pipe but I now have a blockage of bathroom sink, shower and bath. Two plumbers have found it a big problem to clear and have put it in the too hard basket, in fact they could not find out where the blockage is. I have a plan of the drainage system of both units if that would help me to solve my dilemma. My question is, is the owner of the other unit responsible for part ot the expense of fixing the problem?

The answer is no. However, if the blockage starts affecting their property as well, then it obviously becomes a situation where agreement to rectify the blockage problems would be in both owner's best interest.
Thankyou for your reply.
Seeing that all the other unit's waste goes through the same pipe as mine and then into the main sewer, my blockage could have been caused by the other's tennant. Any comment to my theory?

Unfortunately unless you can prove that, the Court would not order all other unit orders to pay for rectification. I'm sorry, and I wish I had better news for you.
