HI

In divorce applications you have to be separated for 12 months before you can apply.

In the application you put down the date you say you separated. If it is disputed, the court will ask if you wish to adjourn the matter to a new date being 12 months after the date the other party says you separated or have a hearing.

Because you will be married for less than 2 years when the divorce is heard you will need to have a certificate from a phycologist that the marriage is irretrevably broken down.

I hope this is of assistance

Not sure on why I need a certificate from a phycologist. My partner left me & within a month had moved on to a new partner. That to me is irretrevably broken down?
