Help with a 2 1/2 year old's child's head being shaven by fathers this act hurtful to the child? The father is angry with my daughter as the divorce decree limits his visitation to weekends. Our feeling is the father did this to spite the mother. Regardless of the intent, is this act in your opinion the best for the child? What research is there on a child's self esteem that is 2 1/2 and has a shaved head? Please help, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Val Mueller (NNN) NNN-NNNNPS The child has symtoms of lactose intollerance and throws up (prior tot he head shaving) and his doctor is trying to figure out the exact cause of his problems. The father also has refused to give the child vitamin supplements on weekend visitation as well as stated his son shot a deer last weekend. Are we over reacting to ask a judge to review the case now and or ask for supervised visitation.
Already Tried: Tried attorny who suggests we wait
HI
The divorce decree only covers visitation and support rules. So no order from the court--my attorney is not sure we should ask for supervised visitation. The child must visit his father tomorrow...I do not think it is wise or safe as the father is so bitter and angry he is doing things such as
Shaved the childs head....not cut the hair...shaved the child's head
Refuses to give the child medication...while not life threatening the medicine is recommended by his physician and the child has many symptoms which cannot be explained at this time.
The Father likes to make statements like "the 2 1/2 year old just shot his first deer"
he also states he will not read the doctors notes and letters from the attorney.
Your thoughts? Should we request supervised visitation, go the judge or just wait till we have more info/facts to support the child is experiencing neglect/abuse type behaviors from the parent?
Hi
Yes the divorse decree specifies the father has 1 weekend per month and holidays, plus 2 weeks in the summer. But my question is --is the shaving of the male child an agressive act and one not for the well being of the child? It will take 2 years to fully grow back. Anyone who looks at this child with a shaven head will treat the boy differently. The act was not meant to help the child it was meant to hurt the mother. St Judes is a US cancer research facility that helpd children battle cance and help children overcome the trauma of losing their hair. If it is traumatic event then if a parent does it to their child without the other parents ok is this not a form of child abuse. Coupled with the negletting medicin, etc.
If the father is making these type of decisions and no real communication made to the mother (as he is so angry) then what is best for the child? What does the law say in reards to child abuse or some protection under the law? Should we find a medical expert or other? Again how does the law work in this area and would these acts be enough to warrant more protection for the child?
