Hi there, My Name is XXXXX XXXXX XXX Mid North Coast NSW. I have a friend who is Travelling from Nigeria to Australia Via Kuala Lumpur on a Currant Nigerian Passport And Holiday Working Visa for a 12 Months Working Holiday in Australia. My question is. Q = Is there a Required Basic Travel Allowance (BTA)to arrive in Kuala Lumpur where my friend has to wait there for a connecting flight to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. I was told that My Friend needs this Huge BTA to Enter Kuala Lumpur when my friend only needs Approximately $5,000 AU Dollars on Arrival in Sydney. George XXXXXX.XXX@XXXXXX.XXX
I have contacted the Malaysian High Commission in Canberra but they wanted too many details about my friend and I was scared that this MIGHT get my friend in trouble there at the Kuala Lumpur Airport .I have been told that there can be problems at KL Airport . The Malaysian High Commission Lady who was in charge Miss Azura Phone No.02 6273.1543 Ext.361 was the person that wanted all of my friends details.I was told by others that the Immigration there can be very ruthless on travelers. I did inform Miss Azura that my friend was carrying Cash in USD and had more than required to enter Australia but was very reluctant to give out my friends details for fear that my friend might get robbed on arrival at Kuala Lumpur knowing that me friend was carrying that much in cash. George.
HiCustomerby Basic Travel Allowance do you mean money for him to have so that he can survive?
With the Money needed to help my friend to Survive in Australia the Australian Government as people that come here on a Working holiday during the period of there stay here in case of illness and general expenses .This Amount for Australia is $5,000Au Dollars either in cash or Travelers Cheque or a Currant Bank Statement which tells the Australian Government that you have enough money to survive here for the 12 Months of you working Holiday But I have been told that if you don't have enough money on arrival in Kuala Lumpur The Malaysian Immigration STOP FURTHER travel until you have enough money as required there which I was told was $11,000 USD. which I believe is far too excessive. I need to know if there is any truth in this claim that my friend will need $11,000 BTA in order to leave Malaysia for Australia. George.
HICustomerhow long is he staying in Kuala Lumpur?if he is in transit this should not be the case?
Originally there was only to be a few hours between flights but there is a problem and those details are where the problem lays . I have Google BTA and only to find that is a Nigerian Scam or at lease it seems to be and I am trying to get to the bottom of this situation because it will be me that will have to help with the extra money and I don't have very much to send my friend.Besides that I can't see why any body who has the Money with then to enter Australia should have to carry more than they need and what does it have to do with Malaysia any way. $11,000 USD to me seem a bit of a scam to me but I need to know the truth as weather my friend really needs $11,000 USD in order to leave Kuala Lumpur.George.
HiCustomerso he is only entering Malaysia and waiting in the airport to catch another flight to australia.
The problem is that I am unable to find out what the Sufficient Funds Are that my friend Requires to either have with my friend or a Bank Statement saying that my friend has enough in the Bank as Sufficient Funds. WHAT IS SUFFICIENT FUNDS ???? I have googled Immigration Department of Malaysia"s Official Website and I would like you to do the same and on. ENTRY REQUIREMENT INTO MALAYSIA. NO.111 Valid Return Ticket and Sufficient Funds.???? No.1V. Valid Passport and Visa etc. WHAT in the Hell is Sufficient Funds ?????? How Much does my friend need. George.
HICustomerThere is not definition of sufficient funds. You need to speak to the Malaysina high Commission as sufficient funds is determined by how long you intend to say in Malaysia. If your friend is only going to be in Transit and not leave the passport there is not requirement for any funds as he is not staying in Malaysia. The only way you will be able to find out how much he needs to have with him or have in an account is to speak to the Malaysian High Commission and tell them how long he is staying in Malaysia. He also need to have a ticket to another destination or a return ticket home. Again as I said sufficient funds is not defined or given a meaning. You need to peak to the Malaysian Hign Commission. Again I remind you if he is only going to be in transit and not stay in malaysia he does not have to fulfil the requirement of sufficient funds as he wil not be going through Malaysian customs. I hope this i of assistance and if so please click on the accept button
