The beeping and flashing is an error code. Unplug the machine for at least 4 hours to allow a full reset. If the behavior does not change, please post the model number and I can look up the error code you are seeing.

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
Westinghouse LD605E 6kg sensor dry.
Tried the reset as you proposed and I have the same error code.

Press and hold the PROGRAM & TEMPERATURE buttons for 3 seconds. Any change?

No change when pressing temperature and program for 3sec.

It sounds like you may have an issue with the main controller. However, I cannot locate the service information for that exact model series and don't want to recommend replacing an expensive part without knowing with 100% certainty. I am going to see if another may have any other input.
