hi i have that exact problem and will have to diagnose the defrost system, can you guide me thru that, i am competent with multi meter etc

The two most common parts to cause defrost issues are the heater and defrost thermostat. Both are located in the freezer. The heater is mounted under the cooling coil and the thermostat is typically in the upper right corner. Both may be tested for continuity. Testing must be performed when the freezer is cold to get the correct readings. Replace either part if found to be open.
