I have an Electrolux EWF 1087 front loading washing machine. The drive belt came off - one side stretched and has rubbed against the drum. The drum pulley feels sloppy on its shaft. I have a new belt but it is too tight to fit by hand. Is the sloppy pulley normal, or does it need to be replaced? If not, is there a trick to fitting the belt? Thanks

Hi there and welcome to the site, thank you for your inquiry today, Please remember to rate my assistance at the end of our dealings as this is a requirement of using our services, at any time you may ask further questions if you feel the need. The drum pulley should not be sloppy at all. There should be no up and down, or back and forth play with the drum pulley. When you open the door of the machine, is the drum sloppy as well? Push upward at the front of the drum and tell me if there is up and down movement please? The trick to fitting the belt is to fit the belt to the motor shaft, start to feed the belt around one side of the drum pulley and when you get enough belt on the drum pulley, you turn the pulley by hand while keeping the belt aligned and it will feed itself on*They are rather tight when new* (The belt)Keep me posted okay,
There is small - about 1mm - play when I push up on the front of the drum. The pulley has about 6mm play side to side at the pulley rim (between drum and back of cabinet), but none in rotation.
Hi Peter,Can you get a socket onto the main nut/bolt that secures the pulley to the drum shaft and make sure it is 100% firm?
Hi
Hi Peter,This would certainly explain why the belt came off then*Sounds like you have it sorted ?Install a new bolt and see how you go then. Hopefully there is no damage to the pulley where it is keyed to fit into the spyder/drum etc,,,For parts:
