Hi there Judy and welcome to the website,,sorry for the delayed response.

Please remember to rate my answer based on the service you will have received here today. If there are any problems at all, please respond and allow me to reply first before rating my answer so we may have a positive outcome regarding your inquiry.

The main problem here is that Whirlpool washers dont have the lint filter like most other machines.

Try dissolving a full box of Epsom salts with hot water and filling the machine with a pure load of hot water and run the longest wash cycle the washing machine has. About ten minutes into the wash cycle, stop the machine, and re start it from the beginning again. Do this 2-3 times at least to make the best use of your hot water and salts mix okay....

Once you have done that, let it pump out and re fill with cold water for the rinse cycle, I then want you to add a full 2 litre bottle of white vinegar and let it agitate for a while and then empty out and spin as per normal.

Doing the above will thoroughly clean the inner working of your washing machine and remove any lint build up on the outer surface of the wash bowl and outer tub (That you cannot see) You would be amazed just how dirty they do become after years in service, especially up the top 1/4 of the bowl*

Apart from sorting your fabrics as per wash program, this is really all you can really do regarding a Whirlpool washing machine with a lint problem.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to respond and I will answer them, otherwise, a rating of "okay" or higher would be appreciated on my behalf. If you feel you have to rate lower than this, then please don’t, I would rather meet your expectations, than have you leave me negative feedback.

Thank you

Same question - I have Whirlpool Washing Machine 7100 Series it has been great but over the last few years leaves lint on a lot of clothes. What should I do to stop this. Thanks
I did try the last recommendation however it only helped a little. Clothes still have the lint on them. Don't know if you have any other ideas.

Already Tried:
Vinegar in water, stockings in load, and your last idea epsom salts and vinegar.

Urgency: LOW

There is no lint filter, so that is out of the question strait away unfortunately.

The only other ways are to sort items by fabric type, colour and use a little more water than required. (Items need to move around freely)

You can try using warm water (more expensive) and also turn your clothes inside out when washing... any lint will stick to the inside and not the outside of the fabrics etc,,,

Add 1 cup of vinegar in the rinse cycles**

Vinegar is an excellent softener and also an anti static/cling agent...

This is all you can really do Im afraid.

Hi Judy,

No problems at all.

Let me know how you get on and if any improvement is found please okay.

Vinegar seems to be the best thing for this type of problem when a machine doesnt have a lint filter etc..

$2 for 2 litres, is pretty cheap, it will also keep the machine clean internally as well.
