My GE fridge is not working including my freezer. My lights are on inside the fridge when opened. The fridge is about 8 years old and has been wheeled out about 1 m to fix some new cupboards only. Tried plugging into a different socket but still no result.

May I have the model number off the label inside the food section please? Also, if you open the freezer, can you hear the fan running inside?
My model no is gsa201emdfbb.There is no fan going in the freezer compartment at all.The water mechanism stopped working some time ago as well. Only makes ice.
On your model refrigerator, all operations are controller by a computer board located in the back of the fridge, behind a small metal cover. They go bad all the time. I keep one on my service van as I am replacing them frequently for the symptoms you have. You need to order the new board and replace it. It is not a bad job, but you will need some mechanical ability and a socket wrench and pliers to install the new part. Here is what it looks like.
