Customer Question

Washing machine called "Smart Drive 9 - Excellence - 7.5. Was working and had finished wash cycle and started rinse but stopped and will not go again. Bowl still has water in it which will not drain as the maching will not move forward to "spin" cycle. What can we do do get the machine working again - we are in Brisbane's northern suburbs.

Optional Information:
Brand: Fisher and Paykel
Type of Appliance: Washer

Already Tried:
We have tried turning machine off and on and have moved through all the possible combinations of cycles but nothing works. We have also tried using hot water instead of just cold - no change

Appliance Tech-Care :

If you place the machine into spin, does the machine start the drain pump?

Appliance Tech-Care :

I need you to put the machine into diagnostic mode.

1. With machine off: Press and hold the Wash Temp Down & then the Power button.
2. Press the Spin Speed Up button 3 times, until the Low, Slow & Hold lights are lit up.
3. Note the position of the lights, from Right to Left in the Wash Progress Bar There are 8 lights on a row.
Please give me the position of the lights like this O O O X X O O X where X= lit up O = dark

Were you able to put the unit into diagnostics?

Customer replied 304 days and 13 hours ago.

Yes - finally able to put into diagnostics as requested. The lights indicate as follows from right to left

O O O X X X O O

Customer replied 304 days and 13 hours ago.

Have you received the answer to the diagnostics yet? If so am awaiting your response please

Its not coming up a valid fault. Lets do this , a little shorter routine.

Unplug the washer and press a couple of buttons until no light come on then plug it back in.

1. With machine off: Press and hold the Wash Temp Down & then the Power button.

You should hear some beeps

You should be able to manually run some components
The "regular" button should toggle the pump on and off
The hot warm cold buttons should toggle the water on and off
Try that and tell me if the pump will run

Customer replied 304 days and 13 hours ago.

yes the pump is now running thank you - this was after we pushed the "regular" button only

Customer replied 304 days and 13 hours ago.

yes the pump is now running thank you - this was after we pushed the "regular" button only - how do we stop the pump from running to try the water on and off?

Ok drain the water out and try it again. If the washer still will not operate then you have a bad computer board.

Customer replied 304 days and 13 hours ago.

OK Thanks for that - the water has all drained out but the machine will not restart again. If we have a bad computer board is it worth repairing or shud we bite the bullet and trade it in on a new machine???

The boards are about 185 unless it's an older model, then they are more.
Thats a judgement call on your part. I guess when something that big goes, other stuff will be close behind, if you know what I mean.
