Customer Question

We have an F & P Aquasmart washing machine that leaks on the floor only when it is initially filling and no otherf times. It is not a huge amount of water but annoying. I have checked to ensure the laundry powder and softener compartments are not blocked. I have checked all hoses and tipped the machine and could not feel any maoisture., Any ideas???

Okay,

What happens with these machines is, the inlet valves split, or they start leaking when under pressure on the fill stage,,,

Sometimes, they also leak at the hole where they are sitting in if the hoses are pulling down from the back of the machine etc,,,

Undo the screws on the control panel, and gently lay the panel forward...

Power up the machine and set it to fill, watch the inlet valves very carefully when they are passing water, is there a leak evident.

This is where the problem will be most likely,,,

Let me know what you find okay...

Customer replied351 days and 13 hours ago.

I tried what you said but could not see any leaks whatsoever. I used a torch and could see water dripping on the back right hand side in a steady stream. Water does not leak at all after the initial fill

Does the machine fill up and start to agitate ??

Is it the same side as the drain hose at the back, they also split inside the cabinet and at the back where it comes up and out through the cabinet,,,

Customer replied350 days and 9 hours ago.

It is on the same side as the drain hose but only leaks upon initial filling up and not during rinsing etc

In the initial wash fill, are you using both hot and cold valves to fill the machine?

Have you observed them both visually when the machine is filling? (control panel removed)

If it were the drain hose, then it would leak whenever it pumped out,

The hot valve is closest to the drain hose*

Customer replied350 days and 9 hours ago.

We are using cold wash only. I have removed th control panel and pulled it forward but could not see any leaks

Your going to have to trace the water leak using your torch.

There are only so many places a Fisher Paykel washing machine can leak,,

The inlet valves

The hose rubbers in the hoses

The metal collar on the hoses,,

The drian hose is split/cracked,,

If you have the inlet valve assembly that is coloured blue and is 3 valves in one, then it is probably the item at fault...

It uses one cold valve to fill for the wash, the second cold valve for the rinse, and the hot is its own valve,,, (The cold hose is connected to the dual cold valves)

Check behind the valves and underneath them when the machine is filling,, it might only be a tiny leak, but it will show sooner or later,,

There isnt much else left to go for regarding a leak in this machine on the fill stage only*

I am very disappointed from the response that I received and eventually got a service technician in who identified the problem within two minutes. I am furious that my credit card was charged for your fee as my problem was not resolved. For your information, there was a leaking hose inside the machine whereby the water initially recycled back into the bowl. Apparantly it is a common problem with F and P and fitted a new hose on new models to correct this. I believe my card should be credited.

You can use the help link in your message window and initiate your own refund.

I honestly thought I did okay for the amount of deposit you paid.

I did say to power up the machine and use your torch to watch for the leak. You basically just needed to follow a trail of dripping water, I can only point you in the right direction, you have to do the actual work. I would have nailed it in a few minutes too if the right information was supplied.,

You lodged a good faith deposit to the website, they authorize the payment to me, when you accept the answer. As with this case, you do not want to do that, you may apply for a refund if not satisfied.

You told me it leaked when the machine was filling

The recirculation hose isn't in use until the machine starts washing Bryan*
