Customer Question

I have a Kelvinator split system air con. After it was installed last year we had service people who installed it come back as one unit kept freezing up and defrost light coming on during heating operation. We had two identical units installed and only one is having this problem. Had them come back again today, but they could not find a problem other than saying to divert the heat away from the sensor at the top of the unit.
Have turned it on again tonight and the same issue is occurring. Unit goes on for a short time and then turns off. At intervals the defrost light also comes on. Room is cold!
Still under warranty.

Hi there and welcome to JA,

Sounds like you are getting the run around...

There isnt really anything you can do to the inverter etc, as you will void the warranty the moment you do anything other than clean the filters etc,,,

Unfortunately, your going to have to keep at Kelvinater or the people who installed the system until you have a full working 100% operational AC system that you paid to be installed.

No one likes chasing up things like this, I certainly dont, but at this point in time, there isnt much else you can do.

Switch the AC off, defrost it over 12-24 hours,,, and try it one more time. If the same problem occurs again, then make the call and keep at them until you get it replaced, or repaired as it should be.

Worst case scenario, ring the Kelvinater hotline and ask to speak with someone higher up the chain,, be firm, but polite and you should make some ground* ok,

Work along the line of:" I bought this product because other people have told me how good the brand is, that the backup service was excellent, but I am starting to become frustrated that the problem has not been rectified after several visits from the repair people" etc etc

Here:

Kelvinater:

1300 363 640.

Let me know how you get on okay*
