I have a Simpson Encore 756 washing machine. It has come up with "PU" error (drain hose blocked). However, neither of the drains that the machine drains in to appear to be blocked (we have tested them by other methods) and the outlet hose from the washing machine is draining by gravity. Any suggestions on what the issue might be?
Already Tried: Advancing the machine to spin cycle. Will not empty.
Hi there and welcome to JA,When you first start the drain and spin cycle, do you hear the pump running?? Even though it isnt draining the water away?It should pump for at least 4 minutes before it starts to try and spin* and in fact, the pump should be running for the entire drain and spin cycle*
No. There seems to be silence for about 60 seconds, the the continuous beep starts and the error message comes up
manually drain the machine (lay hose down to ground level)Remove the drain hose (1 clamp)Remove the rear panel...Undo the wash tub to pump hose (2 clamps)Look into the pump from both holes of where the above 2 hoses attach.Either something is jammed in the water pump impeller, or if not, then it is stuffed....Check the tub to pump hose also*A new pump is about $60 for this machine, so even if the pump is stuffed, it is worth repairing..By the time the back is removed and the 2 hoses are undone, its only a matter of the 2 bolts on the back of the pump/cabinet and a few wires to fully remove it from the machine...Here is a new pump motor cheap*http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Simpson-Pump-most-models-last-15-years-fitting-instructions-Heavy-duty-New-/251066395265?pt=AU_WashersDryers&hash=item3a74b92a81

There are a couple of Simpson pumps on the market,, so if yours doesnt look like that one above (No fan on the end) its most likely the newer type one Here:http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SIMPSON-HOOVER-ELECTRIC-WATER-PUMP-LATE-MOD-BRAND-NEW-/370498535161?pt=AU_ApplianceAccessoriesParts&hash=item56436efef9
