Customer Question

How do I clean my westinghouse electric oven Model 558. It is about 6 years old. I rent, and so do not have a book for it.
Does this oven self-clean? If I buy a product from the supermarket, where you spray
a cleaning product on, and then leave this for a number of hours, and then clean the oven-
will this kind of treatment ruin the surface?

I don't want to do the wrong thing. What should I do?

Already Tried:
Bi carb splashed over with vinegar. But it does not remove the baked on area.

Hi there, for some reason you didnt come into chat, so I will answer your question here in question and answer format.

if you have baked on grime and grease then you are going to have to buy an oven cleaner from the supermarket and use a heavy duty cleaner yes.

The majority of oven cleaners ask that you spray them on and leave for around 15 to 30 minutes and then wipe away using a cloth and warm water. (With a cold oven)

Make sure you use gloves and have plenty of fresh air circulating through the kitchen when you do this okay. The hotter the water for wiping away grease and grime, the better.

Also, If it is really bad, you can spray and leave for a few hours, or even overnight, but the trick is to apply it very thick becuase you dont want the cleaner to dry out, this is when the finish of the oven is damaged etc..

Apart from the above, there isnt much else to say, just read the instructions on the oven cleaner that you purchase and follow them accordingly, as all cleaners differ in chemical make up etc.. okay,

Good luck with it also, let me know how you go..

Is the model 558 a self cleaning oven?

Will an oven spray type cleaner weaken the function of being a self-cleaning oven

if you use a supermarket type cleaneer?

Customer replied 371 days and 15 hours ago.

Relist: Incomplete answer.
Your screen said I didn't answer straight away.
But I couldn't see fast enough where. Then the option went.

I need the full model number please?

There should be 3 letters in front of the 558?

Inside the door* usually,

Customer replied 371 days and 15 hours ago.

PAK558W. Is the number you want?

Hi again

Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX the number I required yes.

The oven is not self cleaning.

The oven spray cleaner is pretty much your only real option in relation to cleaning the appliance. This will not affect the self cleaning function, as your oven does not have this*

Just remember what I said above, do not allow the cleaner to dry*, this is when they leave marks and make the enamel not look good etc...

Dont worry about the chat session, Im not sure why it didnt work either*, I'll let admin know though okay,
