I have a Simpson 550 dryer. The machine has stopped working, and the little red light in the front flashes. The blower belt has just been replaced. Can anything be done to get it working again?
Have you hit the reset button for the thermostat? When you open the door, is there a little red reset button? If not, you might have to wait for the machine to cool down before it will work again, as the thermostat will cut it off when the appliance overheats(from no blower belt)
Yes, thanks - I have reset, several times. We haven't used the dryer for a couple of weeks (because the belt had gone), so it can't be hot. It's harder than I would have thought to move the barrel around by hand - not sure whether that's relevant.
Sounds like the motor might be getting a bit stiff, the barrel should turn fairly easily,,without a great deal of force..
I'm not sure what you're advising - if it's a bit stiff, what should I do?
Well, if the motor is on its way out, they tend to get a bit stiff, as in hard to turn. You might have to get it looked at and get the motor checked out (Bearings etc)
