Customer Question

I have a Westinghouse Freestyle 700 frontloader - It has worked like a dream until today- suddenly it takes in water makes the appropriate noise for a period of time (but the drum and washing in it doesn't move) then it drains the water out and moves to the next part of the cycle and just doesnt move the drum to wash or move the drum to spin it just stays still and drains the water.

Can it be fixed?

Already Tried:
Checked and cleaned the pipes - and the filter at the bottom left of the machine - all is clear now but no improvement

AUSSIE- Repair Tech. :

If your lucky, this could just be a loose/worn belt. Remove the back panel and watch the pulley turn as the motor is turning,, check to see if the motor is actually turning, and not just making the noise. If the motor is turning, and the belt is not gripping the main pulley and driving it, then that will be your problem. If this isn't the case, and the motor doesn't turn, I would be thinking either a motor or a main controller issue. The machine can be fixed, but you will need to identify the exact problem first before you know where you stand regarding repair costs,, etc.
