Problem is with my 1998 Series One LR Disco. After driving

Customer Question

Hi Pearl, Problem is with my 1998 Series One LR Disco. After driving for a period of time vehicle wont start after stopping. Wait half an hour, things cool down and vehicle starts OK. This is the third time this has happened, so not panicking now, would just like to know what to replace so it is a tad more reliable. Many thanks, Jeff.
JA: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded?
Customer: As it happens battery is less than a year old. No corrosion.
JA: What is the make/model of your car?
Customer: Land Rover Discovery Series One 1998
JA: Are you fixing your Discovery yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Am capable of repairing myself if I can get a handle of what the issue is. Land Rover site suggests its a fuel temp sensor. Is there really such a thing?
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Its a diesel.

Okay just looked your year up its should be a 2.5L

but both would have starting issues if the coolant temp sensor is bad, you need to check this ,if never been replaced as far as you know replace this as is not an expensive item.

Well know also if your engine has the Crankshaft sensor then check this ,but think yours was not fitted with this.

Need further assistance with this issue then please get back to me with the reply box below .
After rating there is no further cost for any other question relating this issue .
Kind regards Greg
