Customer: Coolant levels are all normal but the thermostat is at the rear of the block by the firewall
JA: Are you fixing your Commodore yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Nothing as yet, have just been trying to google
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Hello! My name is Gary.
Welcome to JustAnswer.

That's correct Jonny, the thermostat is at the back of the engine.

It is a difficult job to do.

Are you quite sure the coolant level is correct, bled up, no air, no leaks.

The overflow level if always high shows the pressure cap is faulty.

No leaks that i can see, not sure how to bleed the system so..... and ive herd that the radiator cap could also be at fault
Expert:  Gary replied 23 days ago.

Ok, I would check the radiator tanks for cracks, the heater tap for leaks, and then while the engine is cold remove the pressure cap and check the level is full to the top.

If not, there is a loss, and we to find where.

On any VZ that I have have done a cooling system repair on, I replace the cap as well, they always fail.
