Customer Question

Hi my Kluger blows out a lot of white smoke every time I turn it on.
JA: Just to clarify, what color is the smoke and how severe is it?
Customer: It's white smoke. Every time I turn off the van and turn it back on e.g. In the morning, after 1-2 hours of not being driven
JA: OK. To minimize me, please click the down arrow at the top right corner of this box.
Customer: The smoke lasts for about 20 seconds
JA: What year is your Kluger?
Customer: 2008
JA: Are you fixing your Kluger yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have not tried anything yet. I wanted to get the oil checked etc but unsure of the price etc
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Thats it thanks I will see a mechanic later in the week

Hello, my name is***** engine has a common issue with the valve stem seals leaking. When the engine is shut down oil will seep past the seals and enter the combustion chamber. This occurs as the vehicle sits. When you go and restart it you will get smoke as then oil burns out. In some cases the issue will be less pronounced if the oil is in god shape as oil that is old and broken down can seep past the seals easier. The cylinder heads would need to be removed and rebuilt in order to repair this. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need anything else.

Hi Bobby, thank you so much for your prompt response. How much does it normally cost to repair this issue? I know it would vary depending on who I see but just a rough estimate?
Expert:  FixItMan replied 1 month ago.

It does vary greatly but typically about $1500-2000
