1st thing to check is if your new cam has a different trigger wheel arrangement to your original as there's a cam position sensor that triggers the ignition
Look down through the Inlet Manifold (towards the front of the engine), and you should see a round black box, that says "Caution, non adjustable", or something on it. That is your Camshaft Position Sensor
I'd also do a compression test across all the cylinders as they shoudl all be within 10-15 psi of each other
