I have a 2005 cerato automatic I have had since new it has done 85000k in that time until now I have had no problems. however on long drives it seems to stick in 2nd gear and the check engine light comes if I stop the car turn off the engine and turn it on again it remains in 2nd gear with the engine light still on in fact last night arriving at home it was stuck in 2 nd gear and the engine check light was still on after the car at sat overnight tjr car was still in 2 nd gear and the light on. I moved the car about 1 kliometer put the car into neautral and reved the car a couple on times which seemed to fix the problrm. On taking it to a mechanical shop they said they would do a scan of the computer.your advice would be appreciated

Hello there,

The vehicle needs to be scanned for codes first.

The transmission defaults to 3rd gear when something is wrong, then the Malfunction indicator lamp MIL is illuminated.

Can you get a scan done please?
